The idea to create POUNDCAKE BAKERY has been in the works for many years, as founder Bev Hudson advanced her healthcare career. A native Chicagoan and 100% Polish; her mother and grandmother baked pound cakes, kolackies (Polish pastry) and other memorable recipes. Later in life, her father-in-law insisted on baking Sweet Potato Pie with her, and baking again began a new journey of memories of family and food.
After years of being a healthcare executive, numerous family members and friends kept saying “Bev, you need to bake and sell your pound cakes!” She decided it was time for this new adventure and POUNDCAKE BAKERY was born.
Classic pound cakes were generally made with a pound each of butter, sugar, flour and eggs. Most modern recipes are moist and rich variations of these classic cakes.
Pound cake is a rich, solid, yet fluffy creation that you can eat plain for breakfast or with fruit or ice cream for any dessert. It reminds us of family gatherings, cooking together, and people we’ve loved to bake with and still do. Marbled with chocolate or featured as Key Lime for your Margaritaville party, pound cake is all about enjoying great food and sharing a bite with family and friends.
Bev lives in Woodridge, Illinois and is proud of her Polish heritage. She has two adult married children, is an ARMY mom, and loves the outdoors when she is not baking!
POUNDCAKE BAKERY is dedicated to the family members who taught her about baking (Nana Loretta, Grandma Mary and Papa Hal), and to those whose support have helped make POUNDCAKE BAKERY a reality!
Available in whole and half-loaves: All our pound cakes are 4.5 inches wide by 8.5 inches long. You can also order a half loaf for a smaller snack or to mix and match flavors.
